A gravure printing press is a high-precision industrial printing system renowned for producing exceptional image quality with rich, consistent color saturation. Unlike other methods, it uses a cylindrical printing cylinder where the image is chemically or mechanically etched into the surface, creating tiny ink cells.
During printing, the entire cylinder is coated with ink, and a doctor blade wipes the excess off the surface, leaving ink only in the etched cells. The ink is then directly transferred under pressure to the substrate. This process is capable of reproducing continuous-tone images, like photographs, with remarkable fidelity.
